Who am I

I spent my life

trying to be the person

I thought

 others wanted me to be

My life was just a fantasy

No matter how I felt inside

or what I knew to be true

I'd tell everyone

how wonderful life was

and how happy I was

Oh I was good at it

I convinced so many

Had even almost

 convinced myself

But then it happened

I looked in the mirror

Who was that looking 

back at me??

Who was she really??

I found I knew so very little

about her

What did she want out of life??

Where was she heading??

How did she feel about things??

So many questions

I had no answers 

yet I wanted to know

who and what that

girl in the mirror 

really was

so my friends

if I seemed a little 

distant, a bit lost

at times,

a bit unlike

the person you knew

Do not worry about me

for I am only

finding out about

and learning to understand

the girl in the mirror!!
