I ran with the wind

by: Kitty

I ran with the wind,

never stopping long enough

to disturb those around me,

 running on and on,

 looking back

every now and then

only

to run faster after every look.

 Those few who

 'knew’

 me thought

“how strong, free and what a survivor”.

They could not see the wind with which I ran,

 but rather ‘saw’

that which they desired

or was ‘missing in their own life.

 Understanding

 their feelings and thoughts

 only served

 to increase the wind

 with which I ran.

Then

seemingly from nowhere

as a Gentle breeze you came…

swirling me around and around, up and up,

allowing the onward wind

with which I ran for so long

to go on ahead of me.

On and on I swirl,

up and up,

 the light breeze

softly nudging me onward and upward,

like a leaf

that the sun has curled

only to open with a gentle rain.

I feel myself

 begin to open

and long to open even more,

 to freely stretch out

 to feel the sun shine

of love

 on those parts of me

that for so long were hidden,

 to drink in every drop

 of the sweet love which,

 as a gentle rain,

has sprinkled new life

into my dry and hardened soul.
